POTTERY

Traditions offers you the work of 13 Saskatchewan Potters, creating beautiful lines of functional pottery suitable for baking and serving.

Paula Cooley, Saskatoon - Paula works with a variety of clays, surfaces and firing techniques to produce functional pottery and one-of-a-kind sculptural work.  She keeps her work fresh by continually exploring new forms and surfaces.

Parsons Dietrich Pottery, Moose Jaw - Husband and wife Wendy Parsons and Zach Dietrich work out of their studio in Moose Jaw.  In addition to a broad range of functional pottery designs, Zach works in Fine Craft works of porcelain vessels, and Wendy creates quirky clay sculptures.

Charley Farrero, Meacham - Immigrating to Canada from France when he was 20, Charley became one of the founding members of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, and SaskTerra, among others.

Teresa Gagne, Saskatoon - By using a variety of surface treatment and firing methods for her architectural, decorative and functional ceramics, Teresa creates aesthetically pleasing pottery that brings pleasure in daily use and for special occasions.

Barbara Goretzky, Lumsden - Formally trained in photography and printmaking at the University of Saskatchewan, Barb has expanded her practice to include ceramics and painting.  She lives and plays in Lumsden.

Ron & Rusty Kurenda, Saskatoon - Their first love is creating functional pottery; pieces which are a joy to own, a pleasure to use, and a tasteful gift to others.

Anne McLellan, Regina - A Regina clay artist, well known for her works in the narrative Majolica decorative glaze, and currently expanding her practice to further explore slips and sculpted surfaces.

Claude Morin, Moose Jaw - Clay is his medium of choice, as he sees it as representative of the archetypes within Mother Earth's creation.  A functional potter, Claude is also fascinated with the transformative effects of wood fire on the clay form.

Susan Robertson, Outlook - With an eye toward the architectural, Susan creates hand built pieces of pottery, a way of working with the clay that allows her to add unique and interesting elements to each piece.  Susan creates a wide range of bright, colourful and funky designs.

Smiling Cow Studio, Maple Creek - Zacharie Quin works in high-fired translucent porcelain.  He is interested in the dichotomy of the rural and city scapes.  Adrienne Gradauer works with porcelain and other fine ceramics and has spent time in Japan researching traditional methods of pottery.

Rosemarie Stadnyk, Saskatoon

Judy Tryon, Saskatoon - Judy creates many beautiful and functional hand built and wheel thrown pottery lines, including her very popular Landscape design. Judy also produces one-of-a-kind vases and sculptures using salt and smoke firing techniques.

Ken Wilkinson, Saskatoon - A long time potter and ceramics artist, Ken is known as one of Saskatchewan's most skilled "throwers".  He creates exquisite, functional bowls, tea pots and goblets, and also creates incredibly unique sculptural work, as well as larger work in the form of ceramic tabletops and pedestals.

Bernie Zaharik, Regina - Much of Bernie's work is hand built, or molded in clay forms.  His multi-coloured glazing techniques create incredibly unique pieces of functional pottery.
